Day 01: Cusco – Guadalupe Reserve.

The trip begins with a morning pickup at your hotel in a private bus that begin traveling to the Manu National Park. Our first stop is 25 km from Cusco at “Huacarpay” lake from an observation tower where it is possible to see many birds around the lake. In the meantime, breakfast is taught outside to enjoy the natural environment. During the tour of the small road, you can enjoy the impressive landscape of the Andes, crossing the Huachuqasa pass (4100 m / 13,451 ft), and passing the small communities. Leaving the colonial town of Paucartambo behind, we reach the Acjanaco pass (3,550 m / 11,647 ft), the entrance of the Manu National Park, where we will begin the descent into the beautiful Manu Cloud Forest, on the way we can see endemic flora and fauna, such as butterflies, giant ferns and orchids, monkeys, birds such as toucans, tanagers, etc. The cloud forest is home to the national bird of Peru, which is “the Cock of the Rocks” (Rupicola peruviana, we visited its lek) and Spectacled Bear (Tremarctus ornatus) The bear is only found in South America. We continue our journey to Guadalupe Reserva.

Day 02: Guadalupe – Shipteari Lodge Community Reserve.

At dawn each animal sings with its own unique voice as a natural wake-up call, and a moderate walk provides a good opportunity to see the flora and fauna in the reserve, as well as numerous tropical birds.

With an early morning departure after breakfast, the bus will take us to the port of Atalaya, where you take the motor boat and decks, starting the boat trip on the picturesque Alto Madre de Dios river, we can see some water birds, after approximately 5 hours we will arrive at “Shipeteari”, which is the Machiguenga ethnic group,
The native community is known for its friendly and good-natured people, who are always ready to welcome those who make the effort to discover their origin.
so this afternoon you can schedule a night walk, with great expectations of finding nearby wildlife, such as wild boars and monkeys.

Day 03: Shipteari Native Community.

Early in the morning with an English-speaking guide and his counterpart a member of the Matsiguenka community you will hike along the network of native community trails. This tour is guided along an excellent track, where you will have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of mammals such as squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, and various species of birds such as scarlet macaws, toucans, and tanagers. The route takes you to discover through the river habitat rich in flora and fauna.

Day 04: Shipeteari Lodge – Guadalupe Reserve.

After breakfast we will board the boat once more for the return trip to the Guadalupe Reserve, this time sailing against the current of the Alto Madre de Dios River.
with a stop at the restoration of medicinal hot springs, having the opportunity to enjoy seeing some of the species. Then we continue to Guadalupe de la Reserva and the few hours by guided boat to Rio. Just sit back, relax and take pictures of the beautiful scenery while you travel, arriving in the late afternoon at Guadalupe Reserve. If we are lucky, we may catch the twinkle in the eye of regular sized and amphibious alligators during our night walk around our reserve.

Day 05: Guadalupe – Community Nature Reserve – Cusco.

The last day you can visit a native community “Huacaria” (Matsiguenka and Huachipaeri ethnic group) in our private bus or by bicycle. We can spend time there and bear witness to how they live today and before noon we ahead to Cusco in the cloud forest, arriving in Cusco at night. Bicycling and rafting is available for the way back (extra services on request) from our camp to Pilcopata city (12 km).

    After the tour, you can take a stroll around the Plaza de Armas and its surroundings, where you can appreciate the work of Cusco artisans in the craft shops. You can also savor the famous and unique Peruvian cuisine in nearby restaurants or simply take a break on one of the benches in the Plaza de Armas, enjoying the scenery and taking the classic photo for a warm memory despite the cold Cusco nights. And if you enjoy the nightlife, around the square, you’ll find many discos and bars filled with tourists and locals looking to have fun.
